Here are some of the questions we answer the most.

Do you need an appointment to Sell Clothes?

No. Every location evaluates items on a first come first serve basis. We buy all hours we’re open.

Do I have to stay in the store while you look through my items?

Although we do not insist you stay in the store, we appreciate it if you do! It helps makes our process move faster. It takes between 15 and 20 minutes or less to process the average order. Sometimes it can take longer. You won’t have to come back and we don’t have the room on our counters to keep orders waiting. If you do leave the store we ask that you come back within the hour. Orders left overnight will receive a Store Credit offer only and Cash will not be an option. Orders left for more than 48 hours, may be donated to a local charity.

Can I come back tomorrow to get my things and offer?

How do you prefer I bring my items in?

Off hangers, freshly laundered and neatly folded in a basket, tub or bag.

Is there a limit of how much I can bring in to sell at one time?

We don’t necessarily have a limit on items but we do limit each order to 3 containers per visit. You can bring them in bags, boxes, laundry totes. We just asked that you bring them in a container

What kind of items do you take?

Tops, blouses, shirts, tanks, tees, sweaters, cardigans, long sleeves, jackets, coats, pants, jeans, shorts, skirts, shoes, scarves, boots, sunglasses, purses, and much more. We DO NOT accept household goods.

What kind of items do you “not” take?

Furs, Men’s or Women’s Suits, Men’s Collared Polo type shirts, swimwear, nightwear or undergarments.

What brands do you take?

Don’t stress over the brands. We take a wide variety of brands. We care more about paying cash for clothing that is current in style.

What sizes do you carry?

We carry Girl’s & Guy’s and Women’s & Men’s sizes 00 - 20+ and XS to XXL. We do have two “My Kid’s Closet” stores that carry Infant, Children’s and Maternity Clothing, Toys & Equipment.

How do I get more money for my items?

To increase the value of your items, make sure they are freshly laundered, in excellent condition, and stain & wrinkle-free. The better your items look when we review them, the higher value you will receive for them.

How long will it take to evaluate my things?

The average order (1-2 Bags or Bins) takes less than 15 minutes. Wait times may be longer on weekends and if you brought more than two containers.

How many items may I bring?

There is no limit to the number of items you bring, as long as all items fit in 3 containers. Please remember it’s a first come first serve policy and overfilled containers will take longer to process. We ask you to give us a courtesy call before bringing extra-large orders in.

How late can I bring items in to be evaluated?

We buy items all hours we are open. However, we do appreciate it, if you come in at least 30 minutes before we close so we have plenty of time to process your order properly.

How do you determine the price you pay for items?

We price each item individually using a computerized pricing matrix which values items based on condition, brand and current desirability. We are constantly analyzing trends in fashion and what is selling in our stores. Items that once received a higher value, may not be as desirable any more, which will have to be priced lower.

Can I sell back items I have purchased from MBFC?

As long as the items still meet the buying criteria, we are more than happy to repurchase your items. In fact, we encourage you to buy and sell with us as the seasons and/or your style change. That's why we offer Double Store Credit!

Can Store Credit be used at any My Best Friend's Closet location?

Yes, your Store Credit goes on a Gift Card that can be used at all locations including My Kid’s Closet stores and never expires! Please treat your gift card like cash as we are unable to replace lost cards/credit.

Should I try and sell the same items to another location after they've been turned down?

In most cases no, because your items have been thoroughly evaluated and all our staff are trained to look for the same quality, condition, and styles.

Can I donate the items you won't purchase from me?

We encourage you to donate your remaining items to a local charity of your choice e.g., ARC, Girls Homes, Homeless Shelters, etc. We are currently unable to make the donations for you and cannot provide donation receipts.

What is your Exchange/Return policy?

Items may be exchanged for store credit ONLY. All items must have the original tags still attached, along with the original receipt. Any exchanges must be made within 7 days of the original date of purchase. No exceptions.

Do you carry Maternity?

Not at My Best Friend’s Closet. But we do at My Kid’s Closet… and accessories too.
